We to stayed here s part of a package while touring Mayan ruins in Guatemala. Originally built as a private home with 35 rooms for the owners guests to come & visit and now a World Heritage Site. The inn is on both sides of the street, has numerous gardens, is brim filled with antiques, artwork, Mayan artifacts. Our room reminded us of Edna St. Vincent Millays Greenwich Village, NYC home in that it too was 9-1/2 feet wide. A felted wool Guatemalan coverlet kept us cozy in our room. Our server came in after dinner to light a fire in the tiny fireplace. Servers wore native dress while serving dinner and breakfast which were included. But, you have to pay for beverages and water. A welcome drink was included in their bar as well as after dinner entertainment. During dinner there was a performance by children in cultural native Mayan dress. We stayed on a Saturday night and dearly Sunday morning the village was alive (right up to our doorstep) with the market in full swing.

We stayed here as part of our group tour package. The inn is very charming and filled with beautiful antiques. The only heating is the fireplace which your assigned room server will light for you. Our room was very clean, however there was no electrical outlet in the bathroom and I did not realize it until after I washed my hair. The only outlet was near the bed, and I had to remove a small (8x10) mirror from the wall and prop it on the bed so I could fix my hair. It was very cold, so I could not go out with wet hair. Basically, I was freezing all night, and the bed was very uncomfortable. I am not complaining about the hotel, just feel that guests should know what to expect. Take warm clothes and socks. The Mayan Inn is worth a stay. It's beautiful, historic, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. As other reviewers have stated, the food is not fantastic, but it's not that bad either. You are at the mercy of the hotel, because everything closes early. If I ever return to Chichi, I will stay here.
