El hotel ocupa unos edificios que fueron una antigua mansión y una antiguo convento de la época colonial española, que han sido reconvertidos en hotel, respetando muy bien la arquitectura y la estética original. Ello hace que te sumerjas en una atmósfera del pasado, romántica y evocadora, como en pocos lugares, comparable a los paradores nacionales españoles.
El lugar y las habitaciones son sumamente tranquilos, limpios y acogedores. El servicio es enormemente atento y servicial.
La cocina no es su punto fuerte, siendo la carta muy reducida.
Las habitaciones son amplias y confortables, estando equipadas con una chimenea que les da una aire muy romántico, pero que son insuficientes para caldear la habitación por la noche, cuando bajan mucho las temperaturas, haciéndose imprescindible llevar pijamas gruesos o solicitar mantas extras.

Nice place with a homey charm. Loved the fireplace they have in each room. Comfortable lodging with an old world charm and delightful staff. Nice little menu in the restaurant, and if you're there for the Chichicastenango market, well that is but a mere step or two down the road. Would return.

Located in the Village of Chichicastenango (ChiChi), The Mayan Inn was opened to customers in 1932. Every room is its own museum, there are 30 rooms built around a beautiful court year. When you arrive you are assigned an attendant that takes care of your every need. He will serve you dinner, light the fire in your room (each room has their own fireplace and supply of firewood), and carry your bags. Rooms are primitive with the bare necessities but beware Hot Water is limited and is merely tepid. Food is mediocre but there is a band and show that is included. This was an experience that all that go to Guatemala must enjoy if not to simply say that you have been there.
